Cornish Metals plans to make its South Crofty project Europe’s primary source of tin by 2026. Located in Cornwall, the mine has one of the highest-grade tin deposits globally. Although the mine closed in 1998, it is on track to restart by 2026, with recent drilling revealing significant mineralization that could expand the resource estimate.
“South Crofty is a world-class deposit, and we’re confident its resource potential will grow further with exploration,” says Richard Williams, CEO. The company is dewatering the mine and conducting a feasibility study, using technologies like ore sorting to improve recovery rates. Production is expected to restart by 2026, filling the primary tin supply gap in Europe and North America.
